The Difference a Bit of Caring Makes – Tenagne and Mastewol

EHE’s intervention that was made possible through family sponsorships has made a great difference in the life of Tenagne and her daughter Mastewal.

In the Fall of 2015 Tenagne came to us estranged from her husband, making 80 ETB ($4 USD) per week, with expenses of 1,000 ETB ($50) per month, and unable to find much work because of caring for Mastewal.  On top of it all, Mastewal showed the classic signs of significant malnutrition.   Her situation was desperate.

Here is their original intake video:

EHE’s intervention for this family is simple. Provide Day Care. Provide Early Childhood Education. Provide Health Care. Provide 3 meals and a snack everyday to boost nutrition and break malnutrition. Provide Social Work. Provide Micro-Savings. Provide Community. Provide some Basic Needs. Take the burden off of Mom in an individualised way while nurturing a child in a holistic way.

Providing the love of Jesus in practical ways for both Mom and child.

Over the past 9 months, Tenagne and Masetawal have made significant strides forward.  Mastewal is growing in health and is no longer malnourished.  She is growing, healthy and engaged in all ways now.    Tenagne has a job and is reunited with her husband which so far seems to be a good situation, but something EHE staff will monitor and counsel over time.  She is saving money  and is grateful to be working!

Here is their update.

Dignity is being restored to this family one step at a time and it is making a world of difference! This family is being preserved and Tenagne is grateful!
But we need your help. For families such as Tegagne and Mastewol, we took them into the project without sponsors in place. It is how we always do it – we invite families in, trusting that God will speak into the hearts of folks to sponsor them long term. Is God speaking to you today?
Would you partner with us through family sponsorship for families like Tegagne’s as well as others?

Thank you for making a difference in their lives – one step at a time.
