Selomie’s mother is 27 years old and working hard to raise her daughter on her own after her husband abandoned them. It has been difficult to get work while caring for an infant but when Mom finds jobs, she is working hard washing clothes and cleaning. She currently earns about 2,000 ETB ($37) a month while paying 3,000 ETB ($56) in rent forcing her to seek financial help from relatives. Family sponsorship provides a clean, safe place with loving caregivers and nourishment for Selomie while encouraging and walking alongside Mom to help her support her daughter and have hope for a better future.
