Advent Reading Day 8 – Watching and Praying
“(Anna) never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.” Luke 2:37 -38
Today I will write little and instead ask you to Act. We read today about Anna, the prophetess. She had been devoted to the work of fasting and prayer for years – praying that The Messiah would come – that Hope would be realized. She waited and she prayed for decades. Some would think this to be a waste of time, yet there she was in the Temple that day when Jesus was brought to be dedicated to The Lord and she sees the fruit of her labor. The Messiah has come. Her prayers have been answered. Hope has arrived.
Today would you be an Anna? Would you take a few minutes (or a few hours) today and pray on behalf of Ethiopia and specifically on behalf of Korah and the people who live here? There are so many here living desperate lives who have not met Jesus and they do not realize that hope has arrived. We have set today aside as a day of prayer, seeking God to make His hope known and to use us in that process. Please join us in seeking God to change the spiritual climate of Korah and to draw people to see that Hope has a Name…and His name is Jesus, The Redeemer.
Thank you in advance for joining us in prayer. Please journal any prayers / thoughts that you have as you pray here on this blog.
The Pitmans are praying for Korah!
(And our Anna got a lot out of this devotional. *grin*)
